Crossman Community Centre

Built more than 34 years ago, the original Kay Arena was the pride of the Lewisville community. Rich in history and stories, the arena was the focal point of the East side of Moncton for many years. Constructed as part of a community effort, this building allowed minor hockey, figure skating and community groups to come together under one roof.

Facility History

The original Kay Arena ideals are something upheld in the new Crossman Communtity Centre / Kay Arena. Naming the facility to reflect the efforts of two key Lewisville community members was something then Mayor of Moncton, Lorne Mitton strongly supported. “These two gentlemen contributed greatly to their community, and to their city”.

Norm Crossman was a former Mayor of Lewisville and Ward 1 councillor in Moncton who dedicated his life to public service for over 41 years. Harold Kay was a former Lewisville Deputy Mayor and Village Administrator who worked hard to make sure the youth of the community had a place to spend their recreational time. Both men are honoured with the naming of this facility.

Current programming at the facility offers the community the opportunity to enjoy hockey, ringuette and figure skating during the winter months and lacrosse, ball hockey and volleyball in the summer months. Also, there are two large community rooms upstairs, ideally suited for meetings, aerobic classes and parties.
